17th August 2008

Sorry it has been so long since our last blog but the past few weeks have been busy now that we are well and truly into the summer school holidays. As soon as we come to the end of Saturday it doesn’t seem like 5 minutes until we are starting the turnrounds for the next week especially when Royall velvet 3 goes out on some Mondays. Turn round days have been hectic with all the boats being turned round and some staff off for their annual holidays. It doesn’t help that a few weeks ago all but 2 boats on the Saturday came back filthy, which of course makes life very difficult – rubbish left in bins, bedding and carpet filthy, washing up put back into cupboards not done and some really disgusting toilets!!! Sometimes I wonder how some people live at home if the state of some of the boats is any guide to go by!!

Last week saw 9 cruisers & 6 dinghies being booked out for a wedding party but due to the amount of damage and losses incurred I don’t think we will be repeating that exercise again. Oh well you learn by your mistakes. Photos taken when most of them were moored up together at Horning.

We have had some lovely interior photos taken (professionally not my amateur efforts) of Diamond, Oak, Courier and Ambassador. I shall be uploading them onto the site shortly. Also we had a photographer visit us one Friday morning to take some shots for an upcoming article about the boatyard being featured in a future edition of Anglia Afloat.

Apart from turnround days everyone has been kept busy working on private boats. This week saw M/C Christina back into the water, her engine back in and back to her eager owners. Also motor yacht Lady Georgina was launched after major restoration work and is currently being rigged hopefully in time for Barton Regatta.

Our old Royal Tudor (Kaikoura) was pulled out and a few small minor repairs were done and her bottom painted and then put back in.

On the greyhound front we are currently looking after Brendan until he is rehomed. He is a lovely friendly boy but extremely nervous of new people. We have had him 3 weeks now and it looks like somebody is interested in giving him a home.

If you are interested in greyhounds please check out the website of the charity we help www.kerrygreyhounds.co.uk
